The EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION of SoundTrack_Cologne 13 is looking for
Young and Upcoming Composers and Sound Designers again in 2016.
SoundTrack_Cologne organises the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION again in 2016 – the competition for the best soundtrack of a short film for young composers and sounddesigners in the categories WDR FILMSCORE AWARD and SOUNDDESIGN. We are looking for an independent, original approach to interpret and support narration and picture level. There are no restrictions stylistically. What matters is to create an own world of music and sound.
Contestants may work together as a team of composer and sounddesigner.
The winner of the WDR FILMSCORE AWARD gets the opportunity to record an own composition with the WDR Funkhausorchester Cologne – for many young composers this would be the first possibilty to record with a great orchestra and to start to fill their film-score business card.
The award for best SOUNDDESIGN is a 5.1 cinematic mix down in a prestigious sound mixing studio in Germany.
Entry deadline for the competition is June 17, 2016.
In context of SoundTrack_Cologne the twelve finalists and their works will be presented to the jury and audience at Festival Saturday, August 27, 2016. The award ceremony takes place within the framework of  the official gala evening on 27 August 2016.
The contest is open to all active students in the fields of sound, music and/or composition at a European film or music school (without age limit) or young creatives up to 30 years of age.
Animation film „WRAPPED“ by Roman Kaelin, Falko Paeper and Thomas Wittmann:

To participate in the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION in the categories WDR FILMSCORE AWARD and SOUNDDESIGN the contestants have to create a new soundtrack for a short film provided by SoundTrack_Cologne.
This year, the animated film „WRAPPED“ by Roman Kaelin, Falko Paeper and Thomas Wittmann was selected for the competition. The duration of the movie is 4:08 minutes and it was produced at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
Kaelin, Paeper an Wittmann tell with their multiple award-winning movie a story about the circle of life. With animated graphic power the movie shows the apocalyptic dimensions of a plant wrapping the whole planet earth. It doesn’t leave the audience hopelessy though by offering a new beginning after the end. The rampant growth of the plant, the break-down of a metropolis, the taking-over of the earth and the new beginning of the circle of life offer a challenging basis for a new soundtrack.
You can find the terms and conditions of your participation as well as the film under www.soundtrackcologne.de.
We are looking forward to receiving your entries!
